Tunnels are of increasing importance for the European infrastructure. Tunnel structures have become longer and more complicated, and underground transit is on the rise. Learn how best to construct, maintain and upgrade tunnels at IQPC’s 2nd International Conference Tunnel Design & Construction Europe, from November 16-18, 2011 in Amsterdam.
Thumb At the event participants will have the opportunity to discuss major issues concerning tunnel design and construction with leading experts, concerning the most challenging European tunnel projects: The Coentunnel, the North South Metro Line in Amsterdam and the Crossrail project in London such as •Risk analysis concerning the distribution of risk between stakeholders •How the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM) helps to overcome difficult rock conditions •Challenges of construction in an historic urban area •How to use risk analysis for fire safety design and fire safety considerations in tunnel design In addition to presentations we offer the possibility to gain first-hand insight into ongoing tunnel construction. There are two site visits scheduled: one to the Coentunnel and another one to the North South Metro Line, as well as an interactive Workshop on Active fire protection.
