New IBM Entry Servers Offer Large Company Performance at Small Company Prices

Armonk, New York, 28.10.2011 - IBM (NYSE) today released a powerful new set of entry-level servers that offer small to mid-sized companies business computer performance at personal computer prices.

The new System x tower and rack servers are designed to give small to mid-sized business owners efficient, high-performing, low-cost server options with the reliability and 24/7 dependability necessary to run a growing business. Tailor made a small business, the servers are an idea solution for OEM and kiosk operators, and larger enterprises performing large roll outs or high-end desktop migrations.

The IBM System x3100 M4 is the newest addition to the IBM x86 tower server line. It is a quiet, compact, 1-socket system that features the latest Intel Xeon processor E3-1200 series, providing clients a performance boost of up to 30 percent over previous 1-socket machines. The server has been purpose-built to offer a small business environment server class reliability and performance at a significantly affordable starting price of around $600.

IBM also introduced a new IBM System x3250 M4, a compact 1U-rack server designed to run 1-socket business workloads such as file and print, web serving, small business infrastructure and virtual desktop for small work groups. Also powered by the latest Intel® Xeon® processor E3-1200 series, the server offers customers performance, reliability and availability of a larger system, also at an entry price under $700. Notable features include redundant power, optional HW RAID, and server-level memory with error correction, providing business owners the 24/7 dependability required to run their businesses.
