Joint COMPRION and Rohde & Schwarz Test Solution Allows Fully Automated Reconfiguration of USIM Profiles

Together with COMPRION, the test and measurement expert Rohde & Schwarz has developed a solution for fully automated execution of both 3GPP TS 36.523 LTE and 3GPP TS 34.123 3G conformance tests. The solution consists of the R&S CMW500 protocol tester, providing an industry leading number of GCF and PTCRB validated protocol conformance test cases, and the COMPRION Test SIM Simulator.

As some tests require a specific UICC profile, mobile phone manufacturers, MNOs and test labs up to now had to manually swap up to 100 different card profiles during the execution of 3GPP TS 36.523 LTE and 3GPP TS 34.123 3G conformance tests as part of the (pre-) certification of mobile phones. The combined test solution of COMPRION and Rohde & Schwarz replaces the time-consuming and error-prone process of manually inserting the cards into the mobile phone, configuring them, and running the test case, as it now allows the automatic reconfiguration of the required UICC profile and enables full test case automation without any test engineer interaction.

Nihada Poricanin, Product Manager for Terminal Test Solutions at COMPRION explicates, “The well-proven hardware and software of our terminal testers are the basis for the COMPRION Test SIM Simulator. Different UICC profiles (SIM, USIM, ISIM, CSIM) needed for the diverse network access technologies (2G/GSM, UMTS/W-CDMA, LTE, CDMA2000) can be simulated. The test operator only has to start the test campaign on the Rohde & Schwarz protocol tester R&S CMW500; everything else runs automatically saving time, making test results repeatable and minimizing errors.”
