EMVCo Qualifies First Fully Automated PICC Analog Test Solution

COMPRION has received the EMVCo Letter of Qualification for its EMVCo PICC Analog Test Solution, which can now be used for type approval of bankcards or smartphones by accredited test laboratories. The solution also helps phone and chipset manufacturers to test the compliance of their products before launching them. The EMVCo PICC Analog Test Solution consists of the conformance test system UT³ Platform, a 6-axis industry robot in a safety cell, and additional EMVCo test equipment like antennas.

The solution is currently the only one in the market coming with an integrated qualified robot for automated positioning. Swantje Missfeldt, EMVCo Product Manager at COMPRION, explains: “Other systems have not integrated the robot automatically in their solution. Thus, the test laboratories have to set up the complex robot system themselves and have to invest into its qualification. With our system, laboratories benefit from saving time and resources for qualifying the robotics. Hence, the time to set up the system is only half a day and allows the testers to focus on the actual test project itself.” By the end of 2016, EMVCo requires the labs to integrate the automated positioning into their test process.

Automation is also implemented for test case execution regarding repetitions, measurements, traces, log files, and reporting according to the EMVCo format. It is the only solution of its kind with a so-called “live log” which means that results are visualized already during test case execution. This saves time in case of errors.

The system design ensures a very high positioning accuracy with a proven precision of 0.45 mm. This is significantly better than 1.00 mm maximum allowed by EMVCo specifications.

Besides the PICC analog part, COMPRION is also working on the validation of the PICC digital, and PCD analog and digital test solutions. Thus, COMPRION will soon be able to offer a complete range of validated contactless EMVCo tools.
