Year-end rally in the gold price

Many expect a rally to occur at the end of a year. And indeed, over the past 20 years, the price of gold has usually delivered a positive return in the last quarter. The year-end rally, or Santa Claus rally, refers to the phenomenon of stock prices going up at the end of a year. However, the rally is usually only seen in the last five trading days and the first two days of January. It's also often the period from mid-December through New Year's Day. Whether it's due to investors being in a positive mood at Christmas time or whatever reasons are at play here, it never hurts to look ahead.
