Rising energy prices threaten assets

Von Swiss Resource Capital AG

Russia's invasion of Ukraine will have consequences for a long time.

Thumb

Prices for electricity, gas and oil will rise again and probably remain high for some time, and from an already high level. Germany started the winter with almost empty gas storage facilities. The fact that Russia is now excluded from the global payment system SWIFT due to sanctions has economic consequences for the entire global economy, including Germany and Europe. Higher energy prices lead to a loss of growth because they cause higher costs for companies and a reduction in purchasing power for private households. In this mixed situation, significant interest rate increases by the European Central Bank are hardly to be expected.

For the individual, the question of the right investments is all the more urgent. In the case of a stock portfolio, it is essential to ensure the broadest possible diversification. The time horizon should also be timed for the long term. Gold shares are definitely one of them. In euro terms, the precious metal has risen to a record high (1,767.33); in U.S. dollar terms, it has yet to do so. In these turbulent times, however, a gold price of more than US$2,000 should come as no surprise. Since not only the energy prices reduce the private assets, but also the industrial metal prices tend to go up due to the war, share values of companies that own copper as well as gold are certainly not a bad investment in these times.

Gold and copper, for example, have Torq Resources, Osisko Gold Royalties or Denarius Metals https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VohdV1sLt1k -.

The latter controls the Lomero gold-copper project in Spain, the Guia Antigua project in Colombia (containing gold and silver) and the Zancudo gold project, also in Colombia.

Torq Resources - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_znAPvgkYvM - is engaged in copper and gold exploration in Chile and is working on three projects (Santa Cecila, Margarita, Andrea).

Osisko Gold Royalties - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_znAPvgkYvM - earns its money from royalties and streams. Record revenues were recorded in 2021.
