Zinc is one of the important raw materials

Von Swiss Resource Capital AG

Zinc as corrosion protection is indispensable in many areas.

Thumb

In the first half of 2022, zinc demand from the USA and Europe was surprisingly good, while China's demand was rather weak. However, Chinese inventories appear to be rather low and refinery production is limited. In the medium term, analysts said the outlook for the metal appears favorable. China could become a net exporter of zinc. About 50 percent of zinc goes to the construction sector, about 20 percent to the auto and transportation industries, and about 15 percent to the infrastructure sector. So, when it comes to renewable energies and the associated infrastructure, zinc is also there as a raw material. For the energy transition, raw materials such as copper, lithium or nickel are much more favored than zinc. Thus, mining companies are not likely to invest significantly more in zinc mines. In the coming years, zinc mine supply is expected to grow by only around two to three percent. Smelters are currently under pressure due to high energy prices. China supplies around 35 percent of the zinc, Peru around ten percent.

It is uncertain whether any significant growth in zinc mining will come from Russia. In Kazakhstan there are also start-up problems at the large Zhairem deposit. Fearing that the metal used to protect steel parts against corrosion could become scarce, not least because zinc production in Europe is being reduced due to energy prices, investors should consider investments in companies with zinc in the ground.

Here there is once Griffin Mining - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RJs1mZ1ics -. The company has an 88.8 percent stake in the Caijiaying mine (zinc, gold, silver, lead metals) in China. The second quarter of 2022 brought new records in mining, extraction and zinc production.

Kutcho Copper - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj9xXKHciGE - is engaged in expansion and development of the high-grade Kutcho copper-zinc project in British Columbia.
