Opportunities with silver

As is usually the case, silver is more volatile than gold. At the beginning of 2022, the silver price was below 20 U.S. dollars, then it showed strength, reaching 24 euros per ounce at the beginning of March. Today, an ounce of silver can be bought for around 19.20 euros. Silver is clearly more of an industrial metal than gold. The quarrels between Russia and Ukraine or even the rest of the world affect the price of silver. Like gold, silver is a means of crisis protection, and it is cheaper than gold. In nature, there is about 17 times more silver than gold. The value of gold mined historically is about 4.3 times the price of silver produced. Since industry consumes about half of the silver mined, a significant portion of the silver produced is no longer available. Recycling is low for silver compared to gold. Also, the number of pure silver mines is significantly smaller than the number of pure gold mines (by comparison). Coin and bar manufacturers as well as the jewelry industry have to serve a high demand for silver. The electronics industry and especially wind and solar energy also consume large amounts of silver.

Silver has also never suffered a total loss compared to some other investments. In the current year, mine production is expected to increase by an estimated seven percent. In the recycling sector, a plus of three percent is forecast. At the same time, a supply deficit is expected. This should ensure a rising silver price. The record price for an ounce of silver, for example, was around 50 U.S. dollars. Today, there is still a long way to go, but with the strong increase in silver consumption caused by the new technologies, it should go in this direction. Among the silver companies, MAG Silver or Discovery Silver are appealing.
