Demand for electricity is rising. A secure and environmentally friendly supply needs nuclear energy.
According to forecasts, energy demand in the USA, for example, will exceed supply in just a few years. An increase in power supply of around 26 percent by 2028 would be necessary.
Nuclear energy may not be able to close the gap in energy supply in the short term, but it will always remain important in the long term. Tech giants such as Microsoft and Amazon are leading the way as the age of artificial intelligence sucks up huge amounts of energy. And so forward-thinking companies are acting accordingly and securing low-carbon energy for the coming years and decades. Of course, nuclear power is facing challenges, building new nuclear power plants is long and expensive, but renewable energies such as solar and wind are simply not enough. This is why the USA and more than 20 other nations have committed to tripling global nuclear energy capacity by 2050. This will be achieved by building new plants, making major investments and extending the lifespan of existing nuclear power plants.
According to a recent study, the USA can cope with the tripling of nuclear energy capacity. 94 reactors are connected to the grid in the USA and supply around 20 percent of the country's electricity and almost half of its CO2-free electricity. Nuclear energy does not compete with renewable energies but supports the energy transition. The Vogtle nuclear power plant is considered a model project in the USA and is the largest producer of clean energy in the country. It consists of large reactors as well as small modular reactors (SMRs) and microreactors. The last plant to be connected to the grid at Vogtle is approximately 30 percent more efficient and was 20 percent cheaper to build than the previous plant, a welcome development. Uranium is needed for nuclear power plants to function.
In the USA, Uranium Energy - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/uranium-energy-corp/ - has low-cost, environmentally friendly ISR uranium projects, for which all important permits have already been granted. Further uranium projects are located in Canada.
IsoEnergy - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/isoenergy-ltd/ - also has high-quality uranium projects in the USA, Canada and Australia. The company can put uranium mines in Utah into operation at short notice.
