Unique collaboration behind new application for electrical energy storage

Von BlueSky Energy Entwicklungs- und Produktions GmbH

Uppsala Municipality in collaboration with the Foundation for Corporation between the Universities, Businesses and Public Sector in Uppsala (STUNS) and BlueSky Energy have developed a new application for electrical energy storage. A new battery utilizing saltwater and other 100% recyclable materials instead of lithium is being used to store electricity from photovoltaic cells. This technology is being applied at the solar installation of the newly build Tiunda school.

“Uppsala Municipality has become a test bed for new technologies thus creating new knowledge and expertise which can be spread. In Uppsala, there is a unique collaboration between the public sector, private sector and universities which allows these kind of exciting new energy solutions to take root,” says Marlene Burwick (Social Democratic Party), Municipal Chairman for the Board of Directors and Commissioner of STUNS Board.

The new saltwater battery application at Tiunda school is a result of a collaboration between Uppsala Municipality, STUNS and BlueSky Energy of Austria.
