Solar and wind energy are freedom energies

Von Swiss Resource Capital AG

Wind and solar energy ensure independence from coal and gas. Raw materials such as lithium are needed for this.

Thumb

The physicist and futurologist Ulrich Eberl recently showed that there are many good ways to get out of the climate crisis. One point, of course, is renewable energies. Today, electricity from wind or sun is even cheaper than electricity from coal. Today, China and India together have more renewable energy than the U.S. and the EU combined. And there would still be plenty of room for photovoltaic systems on rooftops in this country. Electromobility, green hydrogen and sensible refurbishment of buildings are other issues that need to be tackled more intensively. After all, in the Netherlands, for example, an old house can be brought up to passive house standard within eight days. The magic word is "energy leap" and refers to the concept for the energy-efficient refurbishment of buildings. Several thousand terraced houses in the Netherlands have already been renovated in this way. Other countries are already striving to copy this process.

The goals are clear, less emissions, green energies, also a green steel and chemical industry are part of it. The storage of CO2 would also be helpful. This is being done in Iceland, for example, with a kind of giant vacuum cleaner. In the Orca project there, the CO2 is sucked in, separated and stored underground. There are also high hopes for hydrogen. It can be stored almost loss-free and in large quantities and can also be transported over long distances.

Hydrogen is particularly useful for air or sea travel or for long-distance transportation. However, generating energy from hydrogen is still a relatively expensive business. Energy must also be storable, which is where lithium-ion batteries come in. These contain what is known as white gold, namely lithium, a raw material for climate change that is indispensable.

Lithium is available at ION Energy's - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjwOXrwMIYY - two lithium projects in the lithium salars in Mongolia, a mining-friendly country.

Another company, Li-Metal - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5ztywPWxCg - cares about low-cost lithium anodes of the future.
