We are now looking for a Business Development Manager to support the acceleration and sustainable growth within the European energy storage market.
This position is offered on a permanent basis and is open to Wärtsilä locations in the Germany.

As Business Development Manager, you will be accountable for the entire sales process, from creating demand through originating grid-scale energy storage solutions sales and closing profitable opportunities for new build and service agreements in Germany.
Your work will focus on these responsibilities:
• Originate new grid-scale Energy Storage business opportunities in Germany, including hardware & software for both new build and service agreements.
• Accurately forecast and deliver sales with profitability and risk profiles according to company directives.
• Take ownership over customer relationships and opportunity business cases.
• Create strong market presence and increase awareness of Wärtsilä Energy Storage solutions and services.
• Develop, manage, and grow long term relationships with key customers and strategic partners.
• Create and execute strategy and account planning for assigned customers.
• Create new opportunities, influencing customers' decisions by aligning their needs with Wärtsilä value proposition.
• Lead contract lifecycle from origination through proposal, negotiation, closing, and Notice to Proceed (NTP), activating and leading internal stakeholders as one opportunity team.
The below will enable you to shine in this role:
• Master or Bachelor level education preferably in Economics, Business or Finance. Engineering or Science can also be considered.
• Proven successful track record in energy storage sales or business development role, in a renewable energy, independent power producer (IPP), equipment supplier, utility or other power market environment. Experience with a top tier management consulting or investment banking firm, governmental energy regulator, market operator, or transmission system operator is considered a plus.
• Established background within professional business environments.
• Consultative selling skills, with ability to understand and challenge customer needs and develop a winning solution. Demonstrated success influencing senior level stakeholders in utility, IPP, or large commercial energy environments.
• High attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to drive complex opportunities to profitable closure. Ability to multitask, with well-organized ability to manage teams committed to high standards.
• Understanding of utility industry, independent power producers (IPPs), different energy markets, merchant and ancillary services market and energy storage markets. Comprehensive understanding of the energy/power sector, including energy storage financing, construction, operations, maintenance, and economic drivers.
• Superior team working skills
• Advanced technical aptitude, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
• Native level German, and fluency in English language, with superior oral and written communication skills You will be at an advantage with:
• MBA qualification
• Solid understanding of relevant local legislation, regulatory landscape, and the requirements of doing business in Germany will be an added advantage.
