PhD in the field of sensor technology and autonomous driving (m/f/d)

Are you ready to shape the future of the vehicle? Revolutionize the experience of autonomous and networked driving with us and become a part of our VALEO team!

Kronach is increasingly becoming a center for autonomous driving. In the cityscape, you will find autonomous shuttles in regular operation next to test vehicles from VALEO. At the inner-city Lucas Cranach Campus, young people are studying 'autonomous driving' in close cooperation with VALEO.

VALEO Schalter und Sensoren GmbH deals with issues relating to autonomous driving at its research and development site in Kronach.

VALEO is the global market leader for sensor technology in the ADAS sector and the market leader for parking systems. Therefore, one of our focal points is the development of recognition functions for series products such as front cameras or research on algorithms for the latest sensor generations of ultrasonic, LIDAR and RADAR.

In the research field, autonomous driving in parking, city and highway environments is our mission. We are in close exchange with universities and participate in esteemed worldwide conferences as speakers. In research projects, we cooperate with renowned automotive manufacturers, suppliers, research institutions and universities.

At our location, we have new office buildings, a vehicle hall, a fleet of test vehicles, test drivers, test track, laboratories as well as the latest computers, servers and measurement technology.

Your future technical environment

Innovative technologies such as LiDAR sensors, front cameras, radar as well as parking assistance systems and image processing systems are only a part of the broad product range of Valeo Schalter und Sensoren GmbH. On international terrain, we develop and produce cutting-edge technology and thus actively shape the future of the automobile.

To drive our growth and further development, we are looking for 4 employees as PhD students (m/f/d) in the field of sensor technology and autonomous driving.

Topics are:

  • Deep Learning for RADAR, Camera, Ultrasound or LIDAR
  • Automated Driving
  • Sensor Technology

These challenges await you

  • Definition, design, implementation, test and further development of reusable components by means of rapid prototyping (Python/Matlab) as well as software development (C )
  • Collaborate in a research-based environment in a group of innovative engineers and scientists at one of the largest automotive suppliers worldwide
  • Contribute to the publication of results within the Valeo group as well as at conferences and in relevant journals
  • Test the algorithms embedded as well as in the vehicle
