Project Engineer - Ship Performance Center

Local Unit & Position Description

Maritime Advisory provides services beyond and independent of the classification services to support our clients with improved vessel performance and improved operations. At our Ship Performance Center we provice world leading service to reduce the fuel consumption and carbon footprint of the maritime industry by means of fluid dynamic analysis and optimization. 

In our team we are looking for support in delivering various fluel efficiency solutions to our customers, this includes

  • project engineering, including direct liaising and data collection with our client
  • preparation of CAD data to build 3D models suitable for fluid dynamic analyis
  • starting, checking and analysis of CFD simulation for propulsion simulation
  • preparation of simulation and analysis according to the project requirements
  • quality check, presentation and delivery


Position Qualifications

  • Masters / Diploma in Naval Architecture, engineering, or similar.
  • Knowledge and experience in ship performance analysis, ship design, and flow simulation.
  • Experience with geometric modeling of 3D free form geometries, e.g. Rhino3D or similar.
  • Programming experience Python, C++, or similar is a plus.
  • Experience with fluid dynamic analysis and simulation (CFD, RANSE, potential flow), especially OpenFOAM.
  • Motivation and ability for self-organized and careful project execution.
  • Teamworking, even when the team is spread over multiple locations.
  • Ability to use the English language on a professional level in writing and for communication. Knowledge of German is a plus.

Work location is Hamburg / Germany. A substantial amount of remote working is possible.
