Senior Project Engineer - Energy Storage (m/d/f/)

Full-time, Location flexible (London or Berlin)

The technical lead will be working for the teams of Global Energy Storage and Electrical Systems focusing on developing and commercialising utility scale energy storage projects. We are looking for a commercially and technically astute professional with experience in energy storage or renewable generation market. The role will focus on ensuring our energy storage projects are designed to meet the technical requirements of the business model in the different markets. This is a great opportunity to be directly involved in the development and delivery of energy storage projects globally with responsibility from day one. This appointment will be a key interface to the procurement, project management and other engineering teams within ib vogt.

The role:

• Overall responsibility to ensure BESS systems are designed to successfully deliver the business model
• Oversee all technical aspects during the project procurement, delivery and commissioning
• Create functional specifications for procurement of energy storage solutions
• Establish and maintain the engineering design criteria of the company for several diverse markets
• Review and challenge, where appropriate, the system design proposed by suppliers and consultants
• Day to day technical point of contact for energy storage projects
• Support business development teams with techno-economic analysis
• Support project management team throughout the delivery of projects
• Keep up to date with energy storage technology and application developments which could improve project techno-economics

About you:

• 5+ years experience working on energy storage or renewable energy projects
• Experience converting ancillary service and energy trading technical requirements into functional specifications for technology procurement
• Competent use of MS Office applications, AutoCAD, Homer
• Experience seeing projects through delivery and commissioning
• A firm understanding of technical and commercial aspects of energy projects
• Excellent communication skills, capable of clearly communicating technical concepts
• Strong organisation skills, team player and an eye for detail
• A self-motivated individual with strong leadership skills and a growth mindset
• Results oriented who is not afraid to take responsibility and accountability
• Intent on making a real impact on climate change
• Languages: English is our day-to-day working language. Any other language will be of advantage.

Desirable but non-essential competencies:

• Knowledge of project development process, energy markets and energy storage technologies
• Familiar with the business model for energy storage projects
• Experience with solar/storage co-location projects
• Battery modelling and sizing skills
